The illusion has burst. Bying insanely expensive phones with a walled garden software ecosystem did not infact improve the quality. Especially for parental control for my daughters phone. In fact it worked even worse than Google Family Link (Google's parental control system) on a then seven years old Android phone! And with all the other crap Apple is doing I finally had enough.
The whole reason I went for Apple was to avoid having to spend a lot of time doing something custom with LineageOS and a Google brand phone. But apperantly there is no way avoiding it. So why the hell a Google phone? Isn't that like substituting poop-porridge with dog shit in terms of privacy and freedom? Yes, unless one wipes the Google phone and install something else than Google Android. The irony is of course that one have to buy and in a way sponsor fucking Google to be able to get rid of most of the preinstalled Google crap.
So I actually went out and bought two refurbed Google Pixel 6a. As they was reasonable priced and had good LineageOS support. Have now installed it on one of them with as little Google crap as possible. But in "modern" Sweden you pretty much have to install BankID to survive. So Google Play is a must. Which means a Google account. Which means the phone is somewhat polluted with their ad spying crap. But what you gonna do? At least I'm trying to minimize it without spending an unreasonable amount of time and inconvenience in doing so.
It remains to be seen if Google Family Link at least is not totally crappy. Or if one have to actually get into some open source alternative in one way or other. Money and/or help out with coding.
